OUR STORY

HOW IT ALL BEGAN

Applied Concepts (ACI) was founded in 1998 to design and manufacture DC to AC Inverters that were used to power Cold Cathode Florescent Lamps (CCFL’s) . CCFLs are most commonly used as the backlight in LCD TVs and monitors, providing all of the light needed to project images on the screen.

ACI’s inverters support a range of industries and applications including Medical, Industrial, Military, Aviation, Marine, and Commercial applications that emphasize performance, reliability, and other specialty lighting or power needs.

EVOLUTION OF TECHNOLOGY

Over the years, as the technology landscape has shifted, so has ACI’s focus and product offerings. Beginning around 2007, LCD panel manufacturers began phasing out their CCFL designs in favor of LED lights that offered improved efficiency, comparable performance, extended lifetimes, lower costs, and overall increased simplicity.

In response to this dramatic shift in technology, ACI began developing a series of DC to DC drivers, named our I-Drives Series. Our I-Drives are constant current drivers that provide DC to DC boosting for lighting and display applications in addition to other non-display products.

LED PANEL MODIFICATION

As our business transitioned from CCFLs to LEDs, ACI took the opportunity to expand vertically in our markets by designing our own customized LED Rails and High-Bright Modifications. ACI now offers High-Bright Mods for nearly every size LCD from 6.5” through 24” and we are continuously expanding and upgrading our line-up.

In response, ACI has more than doubled our clean room facilities and developed partnerships with industry leading LED manufacturers and Glass Bonders to ensure the highest levels of quality and performance. For those customers who still want to do the panel modification themselves, ACI also offers LED Kits that come with the driver, rail, and other materials needed to make modifications themselves.

CLASS B NVIS DISPLAYS

In addition to High-Bright Panel Modifications, ACI also develops Class A & B NVIS (MIL STD 3009) solutions for our Military, Aviation, and Marine customers. NVIS panels can be designed as night-mode panels, or combined with our High-Bright LEDs to offer dual-mode day/night functionality.

In the last year we’ve begun using Flex Foil technology to accommodate our highest-performing LED rails.
